MOT Testing and COVID 19

  • December 29, 2020

Following expiration of the exemption on 1st August 2020, MOT testing demands has meant some customers have had to wait to get an appointment.  October and November are traditionally the busiest period for MOTs and DVSA predicted twice as many MOTs would need to take place in October and November 2020 due to the increased demand.

Despite the changes to social distancing introduced by the government on 24th September 2020 and the restrictions imposed during the latest Tier level restrictions, MOT Testing Stations should remain open for testing.  To date DVSA have  not made additional arrangements to introduce further MOT exemptions.

Despite a predicted massive spike in the number of tests to be competed strict testing criteria outlined in the MOT Testing Guide and MOT Inspection Manual must be adhered to.  Authorised Examiners are reminded to monitor test logs and TQI for short test times, overlapped test times and any unusual testing anomalies.
